Heatwave Wellness: How I’m Supporting My Body Naturally
gemma OgstonShare
Wow… how amazing is this heatwave?
I hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine as much as I am. But let’s be honest, this kind of heat can also leave us feeling dehydrated, foggy, sluggish and completely drained.
Over the last few days, I’ve been leaning heavily on my favourite functional mushroom blends to help support my body naturally through the heat, so I wanted to share a few simple things that are really helping me right now.
My Go-To Daytime Support
During hot weather, I always reach for my daytime blend featuring Vitamin C, Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps.
This combination helps support:
- Heat-related brain fog
- Natural energy levels
- Focus and concentration
- Stress resilience
- That sluggish, drained feeling heat can bring
Cordyceps has traditionally been used to support stamina and energy, while Lion’s Mane helps support mental clarity when the heat starts affecting focus and concentration.
And because hydration is absolutely essential right now…
Homemade Functional “Gatorade”
This has become one of my favourite refreshing drinks during the warmer weather.
Ingredients
- 500ml coconut water
- Juice of 2 limes
- Small pinch of sea salt
- Splash of orange juice
- Fresh mint
- Ice
- 1 capsule of Daytime Blend
Method
Shake everything together well and sip ice cold.
It’s naturally rich in electrolytes and feels far better than sugary sports drinks.
Evening Recovery & Better Sleep
At night, I switch over to my nighttime blend with Reishi and magnesium to help support:
- Relaxation
- Nervous system recovery
- Better sleep during hot nights
- Rest and recovery after long sunny days
The heat can really impact sleep quality, so creating a calming nighttime routine becomes even more important during summer.
My Top Heatwave Wellness Tips
Here are a few extra things I’m focusing on during this hot weather:
- Add minerals or electrolytes to your water
- Drink coconut water regularly
- Avoid too much caffeine
- Eat water-rich foods
- Prioritise sleep
- Keep meals lighter and easier to digest
- Rest more than usual
- Support your nervous system
- Stay cool where possible
- Hydrate before you feel thirsty
Stay cool, stay hydrated and really look after yourselves in this heat.
