Functional Mushroom Chocolate (Easter Recipe)

Functional Mushroom Chocolate (Easter Recipe)

gemma Ogston

There’s something about this time of year, a little softer, a little sweeter, a little slower.

With Easter around the corner, this simple recipe offers a nourishing twist on a classic treat. Created during a recent Soho House workshop, it combines high-quality cacao with functional mushrooms to create something that not only tastes good, but supports how you feel.

Think of it as your favourite chocolate… with a little mushroom magic.

Not just sweet, but supportive.
Not just a treat, but something that actually does something.

Ingredients

  • 100% dark chocolate (or cacao-based chocolate)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1–2 tbsp maple syrup (to taste)
  • 2–4 capsules of your chosen mushroom blend
  • Pinch of sea salt

Optional extras:

  • Chopped dates
  • Peanut butter
  • Nuts or seeds
  • Sprinkles

Method

  1. Gently melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil using a bain-marie.
  2. Stir in the maple syrup and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  3. Open your capsules and whisk the powder into the chocolate until smooth.
  4. Add your chosen toppings into silicone moulds.
  5. Pour the chocolate mixture over the toppings.
  6. Finish with a pinch of sea salt or sprinkles.
  7. Freeze for around 1 hour, or until fully set.

Why This Works

Dark chocolate is naturally rich in polyphenols, known to support mood and overall wellbeing.

When paired with functional mushrooms, it becomes more than just a treat, it becomes a simple, daily ritual that can support energy, focus or relaxation, depending on what your body needs.
